Art Therapy

Art therapy is a mental health profession that uses the creative process to support emotional expression, self-reflection, and personal growth. Unlike traditional talk therapy, it does not rely solely on words. When experiences, emotions, and memories are difficult to articulate, art can provide a language of its own, offering opportunities to explore feelings, process life experiences, and connect more deeply with oneself and others.

Art therapy is for everyone. No artistic experience or skill is required to participate. The emphasis is not on creating a “beautiful” or even “finished” product, but on engaging in the art making process itself. The act of making art can be grounding, regulating, and deeply restorative, offering opportunities to connect with the body, engage the senses, and express what may be difficult to put into words.

The creative process is a powerful tool for reflection, self-expression, and healing.

"I found that I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say in any other way — things that I had no words for."

~ Georgia O'Keeffe

my background

I recently graduated from New York University's M.A. Art Therapy program and am currently working toward professional licensure.

Over the past two years, I have provided art therapy services in both school and hospital settings, working with children, adolescents, and families. My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in the belief that creativity can be a powerful resource for healing, connection, and self-expression.

As I continue my path toward licensure, I am currently offering healing art sessions, which draw from my training in art therapy while remaining distinct from clinical psychotherapy.

healing art sessions

Healing art sessions are creative wellness experiences that combine art making, mindfulness, self-reflection, and connection.

These sessions are not psychotherapy or clinical art therapy. Rather, they offer space to slow down, explore creativity, reconnect with yourself, and engage in meaningful creative practices.

Each session is individualized based on your interests, goals, age, and developmental stage.

A session may include:

  • clay handbuilding

  • watercolor and painting

  • collage

  • nature-based art making

  • journaling and creative reflection

  • somatic and body-based awareness practices

No artistic experience is needed.

what might a session look like?

Every session is individualized for developmental stage and emotional needs, but a typical experience may include:

arrival & grounding
A brief mindfulness, breathing, or sensory exercise to settle into the space.

creative exploration
An invitation to work with materials such as clay, watercolor, collage, or natural objects. Some sessions are open-ended, while others may offer a gentle theme or prompt.

reflection
Time to notice thoughts, feelings, insights, and experiences that emerged during the creative process.

closing
A grounding practice and discussion of what feels meaningful to carry forward.

who are sessions for?

Healing art sessions are available for children, adolescents, adults, families, and small groups. Because each session is tailored to the individual or group, they can support a wide range of needs, interests, and life experiences.

People come to healing art sessions for many different reasons—from navigating grief, anxiety, and life transitions to exploring creativity, relationships, identity, and personal growth. Each session is tailored to the unique needs, interests, and goals of the individual or group.
